The chart of the Volvo Ocean Race above is for those who have problems and can't get the offical website to work properly (like me). Linux users, open java users, users who's graphics card can't handly Virtual Spectator etc. This should work on pretty much browser, any OS. However its dependent on the VOR's deckerman feed thingy.
I provide it as an alternative to the volvo raceviewer that doesn't work - for me at any rate. Ok raceviewer does work sometimes, but take 25 minutes to load. Wow 25 minutes.
Leg 2 is up - sorry it was a bit late. (still haven't dealt with "stealth mode" will do at some point).
Ok sometimes the tracks don't display in IE. Not sure why, pressing the back button followed by the forward buttons seems to solve the problem as does wiggling the map with the mouse.
The Light Grey lines give an idea of the course. Dunno what projection Google Maps uses so they are probably rhumbline courses.
The places are based on the DTG used by the deckerfeed. hope they are right. There are still bugs in my system
Been improving things again (23rd Oct). Fixed a couple of bugs and added code to clear up database.
Improved things again, on the 31st, Erricson 4's electronics failure broke my system whould no longer happen.
BTW I have a database of positions going back to the Cap Verdies.
No, I have no idea what happends when boats finish, It depeds what Volvo's Deckerman feed does.
Right, to run virtual spectator you do not need a high performace graphics card, but you do need a new one. EG my hi spec GFORCE 4 wich plays Doom 3 and Far Cry quite happily doesn't work. My Radon Mobility piece of tat in my old laptop is newer, crapper and works. You need some new graphics card feature.
RaceViewer does work sometimes, however be patient, yesterday I clciked it and it loaded in only 25 minutes.
Videos, unless you've got an up to date version of Microsofts Media Player they won't work. On linux, Mplayer based plugins may be got to work on linux, totem based ones do not. The interface for the video's is differnet for firefox / opera users it has no fullscreen or high res buttons, for them you must use impotent explorer.
